A rosette style design is a singular object, by which I mean it extends indefinitely neither horizontally nor vertically. Rosette objects are classified by either a D or a C depending on it has reflection symmetry or not respectively. Reflection symmetry means that you can reflect it across a line and other then the translation on the paper, it will look identical. After the letter designation a number is put indication its rotation symmetry. This number reflects how many times you can turn the object and keep it looking identical with in a 360-degree spin. The rosette design above known as the Dao is a C1 designation because it does not have reflection symmetry and it’s only rotational symmetry is the full 360-degree spin.
